Nabilone

Nabilone licensed lab-made cannabis-based medicine available for prescription both here in the UK and overseas. It is usually prescribed to patients who experience nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy treatment.

Sometimes sold under the name Cesamet, Nabilone is a synthetically manufactured version of THC that has been approved as a licensed medicine in the UK to treat vomiting and nausea induced by chemotherapy. It is prescribed in capsule form.

Is Nabilone a natural or synthetic drug?

Nabilone is a synthetic drug, meaning that it is made in a laboratory rather than being extracted from a natural source.

Nabilone is a synthetic cannabinoid that mimics the effects of the naturally occurring cannabinoid THC.

How does Nabilone work?

Nabilone works by interacting with the endocannabinoid system in the body, which is responsible for regulating homeostasis (balance) and various physiological processes such as pain, mood, appetite, and nausea. It binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, reducing the sensation of nausea and vomiting.
